There’s a new thrift store in town.
The Women In Need Society (WINS) has announced the opening of More Store, a second-hand clothing store where all items are priced at $1 to start, with that price going down depending on how much you buy.

“We know wallets are tight for many Calgarians, so we’re offering a new way to shop thrift in Calgary. It’s good for the city, good for business, and good for the environment,” says Karen Ramchuk, WINS’s executive director, in the release.
“At More Store, all clothing is sold as-is and priced at $1 per piece. The more volume you purchase, the more that price drops.”
More Store is located at Unit 141 7007 54th Street SE, and is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 am to 4 pm.
Those who are hoping to pick up some sustainable summer fashion will need to make sure to bring a mask and gloves, as the store is laid out in a way that results in the need to touch much of the clothing.
Women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing is available, including some designer pieces according to the release, as all were donated from Calgarians.
Proceeds from sales go towards helping over 6,000 Calgary women and their families escape poverty through the operation of five Family Resource Centres, Free Goods Referral Program, Retail Ready Employment Service, and Charlie’s Children program.
According to the release, any 101 to 250th item that you buy will cost just $0.75 each, dropping down to $0.50 for 251+ items.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, WINS has installed hand sanitization stations at all entrances, are limiting the number of customers in the store, adding arrows to direct one-way traffic, and closing every other changeroom.
All clothes that are tried on and not purchased will enter a 24-hour quarantine before being returned to shelves.
