A big new pool with a lazy river and waterslides is being built in northern Alberta

A big new aquatics facility is being built in northern Alberta, bringing with it a sweet lazy river, waterslides, and numerous hot tubs.
Tucked away in Lac La Biche, the Bold Centre Aquatics Facility is going to be stacked with amenities, including a leisure pool with a resort deck, beach entry, fun elements, and a teaching area, as well as a lazy river with play features.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy two waterslides, a larger one and a smaller one for young children, a 25-metre, six-lane competition lap pool with pool deck, diving board, family and adult-only hot tubs, outdoor patio and hot tub, steam room and sauna, and a multipurpose space available for bookings.

Lac La Biche County
Lac La Biche County completed feasibility studies and community consultation in 2021 to gain input, ideas and feedback from residents and community members that will guide and shape the project. This public engagement identified and prioritized many of the features Council approved for the final project.

Construction on the project began in February 2024, and it is on track to open its doors to patrons later this year, according to its website.
Funding for the new aquatics facility includes a provincial grant of $9 million, a federal grant of $6 million and a County commitment of $29.9 million for an overall project budget of $44.9 million.
