If you’re looking to make a splash this summer, one of the largest outdoor water parks in Alberta recently opened for the season, and it looks like a blast.

Nestled in central Alberta, the Outdoor Aquatic Centre at the Abbey Centre in Blackfalds is a one-of-a-kind outdoor aquatic centre that features a spray park with tot slides, giant tipping buckets and lots of spray features.

The leisure pool offers aĀ zero-depth entrance with beach features, a little tots’ area, and two three-story water slides. The Jr. Olympic pool, which is a four-lane 25-meter-long pool, features a one-meter diving board and a 10 ft. rock wall.

Once you’re done splashing around and enjoying all the neat perks at this centre, relax in the 15-person hot tub.

The outdoor aquatic centre opened just last week, and the current spring schedule will run until June 28, 2026.

The capacity of the aquatics centre is 400, while the Jr. Olympic pool has a maximum capacity of 150. You can see more information and rules about the centre on its website.

While you are there, the Abbey Centre also holds an indoor play space that offers six levels across more than 2,600 square feet, as well as an outdoor dinosaur-themed playground.

The centre is approximately an hour and a half away from Edmonton, and is around the same drive time from Calgary, too.
