A new park is coming to Calgary with so many things and it's BIG

Jul 19 2023, 9:13 pm

Whether you’re looking for a new place to walk your dog or a new skate park to shred in, this new Calgary park has something for everyone.

Nestled into the city’s southwest community of Yorkville, the new Central Park, located at 121 Yorkville Park SW, was designed to be fun no matter the season. There’s a tobogganing hill, an ice skating rink, and even a built-in ping pong table!

The four-acre park features the first off-leash dog park southwest of Fish Creek Provincial Park and the fourth permanent skate park in southwest Calgary.

It also has some new public art on display with an airbrushed pavilion by Calgary artist Jordan Bourgeault.

The park was a collaborative effort with the University of Calgary’s Urban Lab, which helped bring the community’s vision of an accessible park to life. Several spots in the park are fully wheelchair accessible and both the dog and skate park were designed with accessibility in mind.

The public grand opening starts at 11 am on Saturday, July 22, and includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live music, skateboard tutorials, and food trucks!
