South Glenmore Park is about to get a brand new amenity.

A bicycle pump track is being opened to the public this weekend, allowing Calgarians and visitors of all ages to try their wheels on the circuit.

A collaboration between the City of Calgary, Parks Foundation Calgary, and the Calgary Mountain Bike Alliance, the track will see riders using an up-and-down pumping motion to propel themselves along the twists and turns.

The asphalt circuit is the creation of Velosolutions, and a release from Parks Foundation Calgary states that it is suitable for everyone from first-time mountain bikers to those who want to work on more advanced skills.

Even those who might not want to hop on a saddle will be able to enjoy the new addition to the park.

“The new park will also have plenty of seating, so itā€™s the perfect place for families to take a break and enjoy all that South Glenmore Park has to offer,” states the release.

Located in South Glenmore Park in the west end of 90th Avenue SW, the new pump track will be accessible off of the Elbow River Pathway.

Bikers will be able to access the new amenity as of Saturday, August 15.
