The brand’s humble beginnings are based on a true story. It all started one afternoon in 1987 when two friends met for lunch in Rosettenville, a suburb of Johannesburg in South Africa. They knew immediately they had tasted something so unique it needed to be shared with the world. Et voilĂ , Nando’s becomes a world-renowned food lover’s brand.
So what really lies behind the heart (and heat) of Nando’s?
It has to be the unique PERi-PERi, which is Swahili for “Bird’s Eye Chilli.” These chillies can only be grown in the nutrient-rich soil found in Southern Africa under the blistering sun.
This magical ingredient is what makes Nando’s chicken and sauces so damn delicious, and even a little addictive.
