Moxie’s has launched their first-ever test kitchen right here in Calgary
Moxie’s is shaking things up and has opened their first-ever Moxie’s Test Kitchen right here in Calgary.
What is the Moxie’s Test Kitchen, you ask? It’s where you, the diner, get to try out brand new dishes and experiences before they’re rolled out to Moxie’s locations across the country.
The team at Moxie’s wants to know what items taste delicious and what changes improved your service. They want to know which dishes excite, what flavours delight, and what isn’t just right. Chef Brandon Thordarson and the Moxie’s team are inspired by the people they meet, the cultures they encounter, and the food they love to cook.
Guests will experience new dishes, updated service technology, and re-imagined décor. Feedback is encouraged and actively sought every step of the way.
All-new dishes and recipes will be served alongside famous favourites at Moxie’s Shawnessy location.
This means Calgary is now home to a one-of-a-kind, bespoke dining opportunity.
Because Moxie’s loves to keep things fresh, menus are seasonally-inspired, using greenhouse-grown herbs, sustainably caught seafood and free-run chickens from Canadian farmers. And, of course, Moxie’s uses 100% fresh, never-frozen Canadian Beef. The Test Kitchen will also feature local craft brews, batched exclusively for the Shawnessy location.
With over 60 locations across Canada, it’s important that guests love any changes made to the Moxie’s menu.
Reservations are available online but walk-ins are always welcome. The Test Kitchen will be open from Sunday to Thursday from 11 am to 11 pm, and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 am to midnight.

Chef Brandon, AKA the “rebel chef,” is the corporate executive chef of Moxie’s Grill & Bar. More than 20 years of experience in the culinary world has seen him hone his skills at top-rated kitchens in Whistler, Victoria, and even in Scotland where he became the head chef at the Michelin–recognized Monachyle Mhor Hotel. Before joining Moxie’s in 2012, he worked as the executive chef for Glowbal Restaurant Group in Vancouver, and also the Opus Hotel in Vancouver and Montreal. His fearless approach to cooking using fresh, quality ingredients is what makes his dishes truly unique.
