Eau Claire Market is about to be completely transformed.

For the first time ever in Canada, Calgary will be playing host to a city centre motorsports competition later this September.

The Red Bull Outliers enduro competition will pit motorcross athletes against one another in a race on a custom closed obstacle track, which will be built by Calgary’s own Shane Cuthbertson.

And the real kicker? The whole thing is free to attend.

“Tourism Calgary is proud to partner with Calgary Downtown Association and Red Bull to bring a unique experience to the core of our city,” said Carson Ackroyd, senior vice president of sales with Tourism Calgary, in the release.

“This event will be unlike anything we’ve ever hosted in the core of our city, and we look forward to sharing it with Calgarians and visitors.”

The event will run from September 28 to 29, though the second day of competition will be held two hours east near Dinosaur Provincial Park in Steveville.

The Eau Claire portion of the event will take place from 11 am to 3:30 pm on Saturday, September 28.

“This is a one-of-a-kind experience for Calgarians and visitors in the downtown core. We’re excited about activating Eau Claire, attracting a youthful and active demographic downtown and leveraging an internationally renowned action-sport brand,” said Marco De Iaco, executive director, Calgary Downtown Association, in the release.

“These are initiatives we’ll continue to clear the path for, in downtown Calgary.”
