Melrose Calgary restaurant finally reopens after two-year hiatus

Melrose, a Calgary restaurant with overĀ 30 years of service, has finally reopened with a brand new look.

Originally, Melrose Cafe was on 17th Avenue until it closed unexpectedly after 23 years of service. It was the heart of the Red Mile and a blow to the city when it shuttered. It found a new home after that in the Cowboys Casino, right beside the Stampede Grounds.

The popular spot closed in March of 2020 and has stayed closed for over two years…until now.

The restaurant and bar reopened on June 17 with a new menu and brand new look, and it feels so great to have it back finally.

Known for good eats, cold drinks, and great times, Melrose is conveniently located beside the Stampede grounds, making it a trendy spot, especially during The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.

The menu here has been revamped, with a new elevated take on dishes while keeping some of the Melrose classics, like ginger beef.

Starters, bowls, salads, and six different burgers and sandwiches make up most of the menu, offering something for everyone at the table.

The pizza, made with house made dough, is award-winning, with options like the honey pepperoni, truffle mushroom, and spicy Italian, made with San Marzano D.O.P. tomato sauce, a three cheese blend, spicy Italian sausage and chorizo, sliced jalapeƱo, and freshly grated Grana Padano cheese.

The drink menu includes a long list of local craft breweries, ciders, wine, non-alcoholic options, and plenty of house-crafted cocktails, like the Field of Dreams with Ketel One Peach & Orange Blossom Vodka, raspberry, pineapple, cranberry, and lemon.

With great features throughout the week, Melrose remains one of the go-to destinations.

This spot for food and drinks in YYC has a long story and one we are excited to continue to be a part of.
