Marlborough Mall hosting FREE Chinese New Year celebration this weekend

It’s almost time to ring in the Year of the Rat.

Chinese New Year is right around the corner, and with it comes a celebration featuring delicious food, stunning lion dances, and picturesque lanterns at events throughout the city.

One of this year’s big celebrations will be held at Marlborough Mall this Saturday, January 25, and attendees will be able to enjoy performances, a photo booth, kids crafts, and much more.

The Year of the Rat was last observed in 2008.

“A major goal of this event is to offer a family-friendly and festive atmosphere for visitors to celebrate the rich diversity of Asian and Asian-Canadian culture,” said David Tam, Integration and Civic Engagement Program Coordinator with the Calgary Chinese Community Service Association, in the release.

The event will run from 1 to 4 pm at the mall’s Family Park and Food Court.
