One man dead following Crowchild Trail collision Monday morning

UPDATE: A release from the Calgary Police Service states that both accessive speed and alcohol are considered factors in the collision. 

A portion of Crowchild Trail was shut down early Monday morning following a collision that took the life of one man and put another in hospital.

Just after midnight on Monday, June 11, a pickup truck collided head-on with a tree near 24th Avenue Crowchild Trail NW.

The Calgary Police Serviced confirmed in a phone call with Daily Hive that the passenger of the vehicle died at the scene and that the driver was taken to Foothills hospital in critical condition.

It has not yet been determined if alcohol or speed was a factor in the collision, though the crash is currently under investigation.
