BC man charged for repeatedly breaking Quarantine Act
A man in British Columbia has been arrested and charged after repeatedly breaking the Quarantine Act.
Makhan Singh Parhar recently re-entered Canada from the United States.
The New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) says that he left his residence on multiple occasions, despite the requirement to self-isolate for 14 days.
“Despite being reminded of the federal legislation that requires travellers to self-isolate under the Quarantine Act, and receiving a violation ticket, Makhan Singh Parhar refused to comply and continued leaving his residence,” reads a police statement.
As a result, police say that Parhar was arrested on Monday night for “repeated violations of the Quarantine Act.”

The 47-year-old has been charged with three counts of breaking his self-isolation period and is currently being held in custody.
“Violations of the Quarantine Act put others at risk,” says Sergeant Sanjay Kumar in a statement. “Travellers are required to self-isolate for 14 days whether or not they have symptoms.”
“This is something we take very seriously.”

Parhar’s Facebook page shows that he was recently in Greenville, South Carolina with two flat earth supporters. He’s also been extremely vocal about his anti-mask and anti-pandemic views.
