Anti-masker denied boarding on BC Ferries ship for causing disturbances

BC Ferries staff denied boarding to a passenger who refused to wear a mask Wednesday.

Spokesperson Deborah Marshall said the person has caused disturbances before, and was barred from boarding again on Wednesday based on their previous behaviour.

“We appreciate that there are some customers who have medical reasons with doctors notes for not being able to wear masks, however inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated,” Marshall said.

The scene made the Spirit of British Columbia late for its scheduled sailing. That boat usually sails between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay (near Victoria).

Masks are now mandatory on board all BC Ferries vessels because of the coronavirus pandemic.
