Alberta businesses offering perks for getting a COVID-19 vaccine

If you’ve gotten a COVID-19 vaccine in Alberta recently, you might be able to pick up free beer, grab a discount on books, and get cheap food or other perks from a local spot.

With all Albertans over the age of 12 now eligible to receive their vaccine, businesses and organizations across the province have started offering incentives and discounts for those who have been immunized.

Restaurants, breweries, and food subscriptions are just some of the Alberta businesses offering perks for getting a vaccine.

Here’s where you can take advantage of vaccine incentives in Alberta, and score some awesome local products while you’re at it.

Northern Chicken

Edmonton’s Northern Chicken is offering 5% off their “modern Southern” meals to anyone who can show proof that they receive their vaccination on the day of their visit.

Cold Garden

One of Calgary’s most beloved breweries is running a “Cans for Community Immunity” program. Visit Cold Garden’s takeout-only taproom and show them proof of your jab to receive a can of Neighbourhood Ale, free of charge.

Glass Bookshop

Glass Bookshop in Edmonton focuses on Canadian writing, with special attention paid to independent publishers and queer and racialized writers. Now they’re contributing to the community in another way by offering 10% off to customers who have been immunized.

Bessie Box

Bessie Box works with multiple local farmers and fishermen to get antibiotic and hormone-free meat and seafood to Alberta tables. Bessie is not only offering $20 off orders for those sharing a “Vaccine #OOTD” selfie, they’re also donating 1 pound of food to local charities for every photo.

University of Lethbridge

The U of L is taking it one step further and offering nine lucky vaccinated student free tuition. The “It’s Worth a Shot” contest is open to registered University of Lethbridge students who receive their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine before September 8.

Nine grand prizes of tuition and fees for the fall term are up for grabs, along with over 100 other prizes.

Milestones

The Canadian chain’s Stephen Avenue location in Calgary is offering 20% off takeout orders to individuals who can show proof that they’ve received their shot.

Woodshed Burgers

In support of Nurses Week, Edmonton’s Woodshed Burgers is offering up a free side of fries or onion rings with every burger purchase all week long to anyone who can prove that they get vaccinated on the day of their order.

Liuyishou Hot Pot

One of Edmonton’s most popular hot pot restaurants is giving away a free drink to those who are protecting themselves and others by getting vaccinated. Show your vaccine receipt at Liuyishou Hot Pot to receive your complimentary beverage until June 30th.
