Family behind some of Calgary's top Vietnamese restaurants opens new concept

A new Vietnamese restaurant has just opened in Calgary, and it’s coming directly from some very familiar faces.
From the family behind popular spots, including Pho Dau Bo and Mot To, Lai Rai offers a taste of Vietnamese cuisine in the heart of the city from its location on 10th Avenue SE.
Lai Rai has been brought to life by father and daughter duo, Long and Hannah. The name, which translates to “little by little,” is also a term used for hanging out with friends and family, losing track of time over good food and drinks.
“The chaos, the colour, the way people eat, drink, and linger. That’s the heartbeat we’re bottling up here,” the restaurant’s website says.
“Bit by bit, sip by sip, snack by snack. This is Vietnam, Calgary-style.”

Open for both lunch and dinner, fans of Pho Dau Bo and Mot To will be pleased to see plenty of familiar favourites, including pho, vermicelli, banh mi, and pho grilled cheese.
The spot offers small plates such as salad rolls, Viet rice rolls, crispy prawn cakes and beef carpaccio. For its dinner service, the restaurant also serves large plates including beef stew ribs, curry chicken and sweet and sour basa.
Lai Rai has now soft-opened to the public.
