The body was that of 25-year-old Darby Shade, who was stabbed to death, as confirmed by an autopsy.
Police also found a party being held across the street from where the body was discovered, and believe that an altercation led to the use of pepper spray earlier in the night.
A week later, police had issued second-degree murder warrants for two men: 25-year-old Christian Whitebear and 19-year-old Matthew Crane-Watchmaker.

The second suspect, Whitebear, was taken into custody in Edmonton on Wednesday, and has since been transported to Calgary as well – just short of one month after Shade’s body was originally discovered.
