A Chinese hot pot restaurant with locations all over the world is set to open its first Calgary location.

Haidilao Hot Pot, one of the world’s largest hot pot chains, is opening its first YYC outpost at Northland Village.

First opening in 1994 in Jianyang, Haidilao offers a truly interactive hot pot experience, where you can choose from tons of different soup bases, meats, and vegetables that you can cook to perfection. There’s also a huge self-serve sauce bar where you can mix and match your favourite toppings.

But don’t think for one minute that all the hard work will be left to you, as the hand-pulled noodles also come with a show at Haidilao. Armed with just a ball of dough, staff will duck, weave, and stretch out the noodles table-side in what can only be described as part dance, part food preparation.

While an official opening date for Haidilao hasn’t been revealed yet, construction on the space is well underway.

Haidilao already has plenty of other Canadian locations in B.C., Ontario, and Quebec, as well as locations around the world.
