Popular Calgary wine bar closes after almost a decade
A beloved wine bar in Calgary has just closed its doors after almost a decade.
Frenchie by UNA, the wine bar concept tucked behind UNA’s 17th Avenue outpost, revealed in March that it has now closed to the public.
“After many good times, many great glasses of wine, and more plates of cheese than we could ever count, Frenchie is now closed,” the Frenchie team shared in an Instagram post.

“We’re putting a cork in Frenchie to focus on our sister restaurant, UNA pizza + wine, and on growing our private events and catering programs. The spirit of the space will continue through celebrations, gatherings, and special occasions hosted here.”
The spot was known for its large list of wines by the glass and cocktails, as well as having one of the best cheese fondues around.
Fremchie will definitely be greatly missed.
