Popular steakburger chain is opening near Calgary

It’s finally here! It’s been almost two years since Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers announced it would be arriving in Alberta; now its first outpost in the province is set to open.

The popular U.S. fast-casual chain will officially open its doors at its new Okotoks outpost on Sept. 30, featuring a drive-thru and mobile ordering.

The spot is largely known for its signature, made-to-order steakburgers. Steakburgers, unlike your average burger, use different cuts of meat, such as sirloin or ribeye. Freddy’s also serves Vienna Beef hot dogs, shoestring fries, and a wide variety of frozen custard treats, including sundaes and concretes.

Freddy’s has been brought to Okotoks by franchise owners Ted Tomanik, alongside Brad and Tammy Gurr.

“We feel thrilled to be bringing the Freddy’s experience to Okotoks,” said Tomanik.

“We look forward to being a convenient dining option for guests who live and work in the area, as well as anyone looking for a place to eat after shopping with our retail neighbours.”

Freddy’s, which hails from Wichita, Kansas, opened its first outpost north of the border earlier this year in Winnipeg. The chain is slated to open five Alberta outposts in total over the next few years.
