- A Vancouver chef has announced his intentions to set a new Guinness World Record by making the most expensive sausage in history.
- The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) has revealed its line up of outrageous carnival foods coming to the annual fair in 2017. If the CNE follows suit, the whole country could be eating deep fried jello and funnel cake poutine before summer’s end.
- Matcha mecca Tsujiri is opening up shop in Richmond which means Vancouverites will soon discover what people from Tokyo to Toronto already know: Yuzu O-matcha is worth lining up for.
- A community funded restaurant in Calgary is offering #Nachos4Life in return for an investment. Help fund the company in exchange for a free nacho or salad entrée each month for 99 years, or one every week for 10 years, plus your name on one of the seats.
- The big news out of Quebec this week is that 100 Tim Hortons restaurants are piloting poutine throughout the province (granted not in Montreal-proper).
- Chicago’s Goose Island has opened a brewhouse near Toronto’s St. Lawrence Market that situates beer drinkers right in the middle of the brewery.
- Toronto is getting the first Canadian outlet of Korean dessert chain, Kiss The Tiramisu, best known for its all Tiramisu-themed menus including cakes, ice cream parfaits, and chocolates.
- A New York restaurant named for Toronto’s Summerhill neighbourhood made the news this week but not in a good way.
