Calgary Flames goaltender Devin Cooley is having himself quite the offseason.
The 29-year-old headed overseas once the 2025-26 season wrapped up to suit up for USA at the World Championship. Shortly after the tournament finished, he proposed to his now fiancƩe, Natalie Weyers, in front of a beautiful backdrop at Lake Lucerne.
Cooley has since returned to Calgary.
Like many Calgarians, Cooley took part in Calgary Stampede festivities over the past 10 days. Part of that fun for the Flames netminder included helping groom a sheep. That was right up Cooley’s alley, as he’s been known to be a true animal lover in every sense of the word.
“I can’t wait. I am so excited right now,” he said with a massive smile in a video posted by the Calgary Stampede.

Cooley is set to enter his third season with the Flames organization. While he still closely holds onto his Californian roots, he did admit that his time spent in Calgary has resulted in some Canadian habits.
“I’d say so,” Cooley said when asked if he’s become a Calgarian. “I go home, and some of my friends think I have a Canadian accent. ‘What are you talking aboot?’ You know.”
The fun-loving personality on display throughout the Stampede video is a big reason as to why Cooley has quickly become such a fan favourite in Calgary. His on-ice performance throughout the 2025-26 season didn’t hurt, either, as he put up an impressive 2.69 GAA paired with a .909 SV% in 31 appearances.
Cooley doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon, either, as he signed a two-year, $2.7-million extension with the Flames in late December.
