A man died in southeast Calgary in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
According to a release from the Calgary Police Service, the man was involved in a head-on collision just before 2 am.
He had been driving a white pickup truck and travelling east on Highway 22X, and police believe that the driver crossed the centre line dividing the direction of traffic and collided with a semi-truck that was heading west.
The pickup truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police, and the driver of the semi was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
The release also states that police had been called to a residence in Calgary’s Copperfield community just 15 minutes prior to the crash on reports of a domestic assault, where a woman was found in need of medical attention.
Police believe that the suspect from the earlier situation was also the man who died in the collision a short while later.
Police are considering the fatal crash to be related to a domestic matter, and will not be providing any further information on the collision, according to the release.
