Calgary restaurant named one of the best new spots in Canada for 2025
There is plenty of love for Calgary on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants for 2025 list, and now, one of the city’s most popular spots has also been named as one of the country’s best new restaurants.
DOPO, an incredibly popular spot for classic Italian food, may have only opened in November, but it has already made its mark on the Canadian dining scene, placing fourth in the ranking of Canada’s Best New Restaurants 2025.
Not only did the spot make the list of the best new restaurants, but it also placed on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants, coming in at 56.
From the team behind the acclaimed D.O.P. restaurant, which closed its doors last year, DOPO follows in its footsteps, offering delicious Italian cuisine inspired by recipes from owner Tony Migliarese’s mother, Rose.

The menu, which rotates seasonally, has been reimagined by Chef David Leeder, but still contains plenty of classics from the D.O.P. menu, such as its selection of bread and spreads, giant raviolo and tiramisu.
The small and intimate space has become an instant favourite with Calgarians, with reservations hard to snag, but it’s well worth the effort.
