A dangerous person alert has ended for Calgary and the surrounding area after a suspect police believed to be involved in a double homicide over the weekend was found dead.

The double homicide occurred on Sunday in the communities of Kincora and Tuscany when, at approximately 9:30 pm, police responded to the 0 to 100 block of Kincora Grove NW for reports of a person in medical distress. Upon arrival, officers located a man in his 70s deceased.

As officers continued to investigate, a second victim, who is believed to be the deceased man’s daughter, a woman in her 30s, was located deceased in the 300 block of Tuscany Ridge Heights NW at approximately 11:15 pm.

Police say there is no risk to the public as both deaths are believed to be targeted and domestic in nature.

Police were searching for a 38-year-old man, with an Alberta Emergency Alert issued at 12:13 pm concerning the incident added that the suspect was armed with a firearm.

The Alberta Emergency Alert was later cancelled at 4:40 pm after the suspect was located deceased.

The alert added that the suspect’s vehicle had also been located and that there is no further risk to the public.
