Costco Canada has issued a nationwide food recall warning shoppers over concerns about possible contamination.

On Feb. 20, Costco Canada published a recall notice from Ajinomoto Foods North America alerting customers who may have purchased the Yakitori Chicken Fried Rice at a Costco warehouse or a Costco Business Centre.

“Out of an abundance of caution, Ajinomoto Foods North America is issuing a voluntary recall of the Yakitori Chicken Fried Rice due to potential glass contamination,” reads the statement. “This recall impacts products sold in Canada with best-before dates between Sept. 9, 2026 and Nov. 12, 2026.”

The affected product is a box containing six bags of frozen fried rice and weighing a total of 1.53 kg. To see if your purchase is part of the recall, check the best-before date printed on the side of the box, as well as the individual packages in the format  YY MM DD (year, month, day). The Yakitori Chicken Fried Rice was sold in Canada between September 2025 and February 2026.

If you find that you have this recalled product, do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute it. Instead, you can return it to a Costco warehouse to get a full refund.

The notice reads, “There have been no confirmed reports of injuries due to the consumption of these products.”

A similar recall was issued in the U.S. by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on Feb. 19, due to the same possible contamination.

Customers can contact Ajinomoto Foods North America for more information at 1 (855) 742-5011 or customercare@ajinomotofoods.com.

The statement reads, “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Recent Costco Canada recalls include a scooter that doesn’t meet the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard and baby formula due to cereulide toxin.
