The Province of Alberta issued new COVID-19 numbers at a press conference on Friday.

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said that Alberta has seen 56 new known cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

This brings the province’s known total to 542.

He also noted that there have been no new deaths as of March 27.

Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Deena Hinshaw said 42 of Alberta’s total known cases may have been caused by community transmission — an increase of eight from yesterday.

There are also 23 cases currently in hospital.

10 people are in the ICU, while 33 people in the province have recovered from the virus, Hinshaw said.
