Calgary’s about to get some major representation on a brand-new TV show.

Calgary chefs Connie DeSousa and John Jackson, the names behind city hotspots including Charcut and Charcar, are set to take part in the Food Network’s newest cooking competition, Pitmasters.

The six-episode series will see chef duos from across North America compete to showcase their BBQ prowess, completing challenges such as breaking down a whole hog to cooking and serving four essential BBQ proteins on a non-stop rolling schedule, with the chance to earn a $50,000 prize.

The dishes will be judged by a stacked panel of judges, including chefs Andrew Zimmern, Jess Pryles, and Ernest Servantes and BBQ pitmaster Moe Cason.

DeSousa and Jackson will be repping the country as the only Canadian pair taking part in the show. Working together since 1999, the pair have opened a string of restaurants in Calgary over the years.

DeSousa is no stranger to the screen either, making it to the final of Top Chef Canada.

Pitmasters is set to premiere on Monday, July 13, on Food Network.
