Calgary Stampede 2026: 7 new Midway foods we can't wait to try

Giddy up! We’re less than a week out from the kick-off of the Calgary Stampede, and we can’t help but think about all the delicious eats on the horizon.

Once again, the midway is set to be stacked with dozens of weird and wacky treats to check out between July 3 and 12 (if you’re not too full from all the pancake breakfasts, of course).

With over 60 new items to get your hands on at the Calgary Stampede this year, we’ve rounded up the ones we’re most intrigued by.

Amsterdam Cone Fries – The Poutine King

You’ll want to grab your friends for this one. With a whopping 5 lbs of French Fries, topped with shredded Gruyère cheese, béchamel sauce and a truffle mayo drizzle, the Amsterdam Cone Fries is not for the faint of heart. If you see us carrying this bad boy around, feel free to grab a fork.

BBQ Rib Cookie – Craig’s Cookies

Disgusting or innovative? We’ll be the ones to judge. Never ones to shy away from some interesting combinations, this features a cookie that’s literally stuffed with BBQ Rib. It even comes with a side of BBQ sauce to dip into. Craig’s Cookies isn’t messing around for its first Stampede.

Chili Cheese Dog Pizza – Bow Tie Pizza

Two classic carnival foods have been mashed up into one glorious bite. We love pizza, and we love chili cheese dogs, so there’s certainly nothing stopping us here. Catch us in line!

Deep Fried Birria Taco Bomb – Mexican Street Food

We’re bracing ourselves for a messy one here. Birria is already delicious, but Birria and cheese served in a deep-fried corn tortilla is the stuff dreams are made of. It’s also served with a consummé dip, and we’re expected to see some epic cheese pulls.

Fried Frozen Watermelon – Mr. Pickle

We have to say, we’re a little confused about how this one will turn out, but we’re intrigued enough to grab this on the midway. Frozen chunks of watermelon are fried in mini donut batter and served with a strawberry sauce drizzled on top.

Ramen Donut – Wok This Way

Donut meets ramen. Say less. The ramen donut has a golden noodle crust and a cheesy interior for the ultimate sweet and savoury snack. This kind of innovation is what the Calgary Stampede is all about, and we’re here for it.

Twister-Roni – Big Coco’s

This pizza-adjacent snack features a skewered pepperoni and mozzarella combo, drizzled with garlic butter and a drizzle of marinara sauce. It’s all those classic pizza flavours we love, but extra portable, which is a must on the busy midway.
