After 14 years, one of Calgary's most popular nightclubs is getting a major makeover

After 14 years in Calgary’s music scene, Commonwealth is undergoing some serious renovations to ring in a new era for the space.
Since opening in 2011, Commonwealth has hosted thousands of musicians and DJs, but now, the space is receiving a head-to-toe refresh.
“As we approach 14 years, we’ve taken a moment to reflect and reimagine. A new look, a refined identity, and a deeper commitment to what’s always guided us: music, culture, and community — in the heart of downtown Calgary,” the venue said in an Instagram post.

As part of the renovations comes the official launch of Common Underground, the lower level of the venue, complete with a slick new bar to free up more space.
The Commonwealth will also feature a new immersive LED lighting design, with the stage, as well as its upstairs dance floor, being expanded. The artist’s green rooms will be updated.
The VIP sections are set to be enhanced with a larger mezzanine for premium views of the acts. The bathrooms in the venue will also undergo complete renovations.
Rounding off the major project will be fresh murals courtesy of Calgary artist XYZ.
Commonwealth is owned by Blueprint, one of Western Canada’s largest entertainment companies, which is behind Calgary festivals such as Badlands and Chasing Summer, as well as B.C.’s FVDED in the Park.
