Two Canadian restaurants have been named on a prestigious list of the world’s best pizza for 2025.

Each year, the Best Pizza Awards recognize the very best pizzaiolos around the globe, and this year, two Canadian chefs placed in the top 100.

Coming in at 51 was the highest-ranking Canadian, Chef Ryan Baddeley at Toronto’s Pizzeria Badiali. According to the guide, Baddeley has worked in Toronto’s most celebrated restaurants before opening Pizzeria Badiali in the West End in 2021.

At number 93 was Chef Cédric Toullec of Lou Pécou Artisanal Pizzeria in Halifax, N.S. The spot, which opened in 2022, offers European-style artisanal pizza.

The awards, which come from the same organization behind the Best Chefs awards, were introduced in 2023 to preserve the “sacred art of pizza-making while fostering innovation.”

The list is determined by an independent global voting panel of over 500 experts from 60 countries to ensure transparency and integrity, with chefs having the final say on the list, rather than sponsors.

This year, the list was unveiled in a ceremony at Spazio Antologico, East End Studios in Milan, Italy.

Chefs from over 30 countries were represented on the list from cities including New York, Delhi, Tokyo, and Copenhagen. The top three spots were clinched by Italy’s Francesco Martucci at I Masanielli in Caserta, Franco Pepe from Caiazzo’s Pepe in Grani, and Gabriele Bonci at Rome’s Pizzarium.
