Disney On Ice: “Dare to Dream”

What: The ever-popular production will feature Mickey and Minnie Mouse as hosts, as well as characters from Disney’s Moana, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, Tangled, Cinderella, and many more. And of course, what would a Disney show be without a sing-a-long to go with some mesmerizing skating performances? In addition to the main show, a sing-a-long with Miguel from Disney Pixar’s Coco will take place prior to each show.

Calgary Night Market: Holiday Market 2018

Studio Bell After Hours: TONTO Edition ft. A Tribe Called Red

What: NMC’s popular late-night series returns with special headlining performances by A Tribe Called Red, Smalltown DJs and DjHeather, as well as selections from DJ and Chapel Sound co-founder Which Nancy Calgary break-beatsmith DJ MollyFi and Berlin’s Siofra McComb of !K7 Records. The night will also include pop-up bars and bites, a lecture on music and psychedelics, AEMCON Marketplace, an electronic music culture and industry trade show with over a dozen vendors, on Studio Bell’s main floor, and more.

Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market

Promoted by Telus, the market comes with both indoor and outdoor attractions. Enjoy over 300 vendors showcasing world-imported items and hand-crafted gifts, as well as great food and live entertainment, such as shows and choir presentations.

Tasting Scotch 2018

What: Audience members are blindfolded, and led into the venue where they experience an intimate scotch tasting that mingles live performance, immersive sound design and a specially designed tactile tasting mat that engages the audiences’ sense of touch. And of course, there are some incredible scotches, each chosen for their unique taste and geographic profile. Tasting Scotch is part of the Six Senses Series by Ghost River Theatre.

Santa Claus Parade Day

What: There is no better way to kick off the holiday season than with a special appearance from Kris Kringle himself, aka Santa Claus. Come down early in the day for the opportunity to get your picture taken with Santa, verify your spot on the naughty or nice list, and make a Christmas wish. Then stick around for dusk, when Banff avenue magically lights up with a procession of lively performers, colourful floats and, of course, the jolly ol’ man himself!

RenBREW Fest

Canmore Christmas Artisans’ Market 

What: Back for the 23rd year, this edition includes 85 vendors selling nearly anything you could be looking for; furniture, body products, clothes, jewellery, food, and much more. All proceeds from the market support Canmore Preschool Society.

TONTO Week: Phantom of the Paradise screening

What: See the 1974 Brian DePalma horror-musical, Phantom of the Paradise, which immortalized TONTO after it was featured (as the “electronic room”). Though the film was a flop virtually everywhere after its initial release, it was a hit in two places: Paris (Daft Punk is said to have met at a screening in the City of Light) and Winnipeg, where it maintains a rabid cult following to this day.

Bragg Creek Artisans Christmas Sale

Roméo & Juliette by Charles Gounod

J.S. Bach & Sons: The Milan Bach

What: This program brings together the brilliance of  Bach the father, with the exuberance of his youngest son Johann Christian. You’ll hear three JS Bach gems contrasted with the passionate Gloria in Excelsis Deo by Johann Christian. Radio Hour

The programme takes the listener through the playful and capricious sounds of Debussy, the lyric expressions of Schumann, and Janáček’s Fairy-tales, with humour, intrigue and sophistication.
