This is not a drill: Calgary weather will hit 15°C this weekend

Calgary weather is one fickle mistress.

Exactly one week after the last snowfall warning from Environment Canada, Calgarians can expect temperatures as high as 15°C and sunny skies.

No, we’re not kidding.

Even for a city so renowned for its fluctuating temperatures, stubborn winters, and chinook headaches, this 180° turnaround is anything but ordinary.

The main sneak-peek into summer comes on Saturday, which will feature clear skies, a bright sun, and temperatures reaching 15°C during the day, and a cool (though not actually freezing) 1°C at night.

The surrounding days are also going to be enjoyable, though not quite near Saturday’s scorching heat. Friday will cool down to 8°C thanks to a mix of sun an clouds, and the same sky-high recipe will find Sunday at 13°C.

While we would love to remain optimistic about the weather and hope that it will stay this way straight on through to summer, Calgary’s previous track record up to this point is keeping us relatively cautious.

Even this upcoming week won’t feature just sunshine and high temperatures, as Wednesday brings a chance of showers, and Thursday will see freezing temperatures and a chance of even more snow.

All this is to say that we’re not out of the wintery woods yet, though you’ll be able to enjoy a sun-filled clearing every now and then.

Better make the most of it!
