Cool weather hits Calgary soon but a NICE 21-degree temperature change is near

Oct 3 2025, 4:07 pm

We may just be a few days into October here in Calgary, but the forecast is showing a big cooling trend before a nice temperature boost appears.

According to the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecast, the weather in Calgary is above average as we wrap up the workweek, but things are expected to take a turn over the weekend.

Calgary is forecast to reach a high of 18°C today, with an overnight low of 6°C and a slight chance of showers.

Heading into the weekend, daytime highs are taking a steep downward trend, with a high of 11°C on Saturday before dipping to 9°C on Sunday. Saturday night is even set to dip below the freezing mark with periods of rain, which is better than the chance of flurries that was being called earlier this week.

It has been a while since Calgary dipped below the freezing mark, with the Calgary International Airport station last seeing temperatures below zero on April 28 of this year.

When you do the math between tomorrow’s overnight low and the high on Wednesday, it’s a temperature change of 21 degrees. From thick, plaid jackets to stay warm to shorts to stay cool, keep your wardrobe on standby over the next few days.
