Calgary forecast to be hotter than parts of California this week

If you’ve been waiting for some summer heat in Calgary, it’s officially here, with the city forecast to be hotter than parts of California this week.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Calgary is in for a taste of summer this week. The city is forecast to hit 26°C on Tuesday, with even warmer conditions expected through the rest of the week.

The warm-up continues with a high of 27°C on Wednesday, rising to 28°C on Thursday, and hitting a whopping 29°C on Friday, setting up one of the warmest stretches the city has seen so far this year.

The forecast is looking so warm that Calgary is expected to surpass the heat in Los Angeles, California, with temperatures reaching just 20°C on Wednesday and Thursday, and 22°C on Friday.

YYC is also set to surpass other California cities in temperatures this week, including San Diego, where the hottest temperature it’s set to see this week is just 20°C, and San Francisco, which is only seeing a high of 15°C this week.

According to ECCC, the average high for this time of year is 18°C, and the average low is 5°C, so it’s the perfect time to get out and take advantage of this warm weather. 

From taking a day trip out of the city to finding amazing hikes to conquer or checking out a hidden suspension bridge in the Alberta Rockies, there are tons of ways to get out and enjoy this blast of summer heat.
