Snow won't stand a chance with a sizzling Calgary forecast on tap soon
Waking up to a dusting of snow in Calgary this morning might have been a shock to the system, but luckily the forecast is hinting that it won’t be sticking around for long.
Calgary won’t see as much snow over the next 24 hours as our pals to the north are expected to, but it’s still a bummer to get hit by some flakes before Halloween even arrives.
Before you get out the snow boots to go along with your Halloween costume, the latest seven-day forecast from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) for Calgary is looking pretty dang good; we just have to struggle through the next couple of days.
Looking at the forecast for Calgary today, a high of 0°C was called; however, an “abnormal temperature trend” will bring the temperature down to -3°C by this afternoon, with a windchill of -9°C. Flurries are expected to end around noon, then cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of flurries.
That 30 per cent chance of flurries continues into tonight, with a low of -6°C and a windchill of -10°C.
Tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 29, will be the coldest day in the current forecast, with a high of -2°C and a 30 per cent chance of flurries in the morning. A windchill of -10°C is expected, with an overnight low of -6°C.
Calgary will break above the freezing mark for daytime highs come Friday, Oct. 30, and it’s off to the races with the temperature rising to 8°C and plenty of sunshine for Halloween.
The start of November is looking pretty dazzling for YYC, with the peak of the heat arriving on Monday, Nov. 2, with the daytime high forecast to reach 13°C. When you do the math between the overnight low tonight and the high on Monday, that’s a whopping difference of 19 degrees.
