Here's the weather to expect in YYC this Family Day long weekend

Feb 13 2020, 7:04 pm

We’re about to head into a long weekend, which is usually cause for some celebration.

However, this being Calgary and the calendar currently reading February, there is always the possibility that sub-optimal weather could put a damper on even the most exciting of weekend plans.

And while the nights this weekend are expected to drop into the double digits on more than one occasion, Calgary is looking to be relatively clear and — dare we say it — warm(ish) for the majority of the Family Day long weekend, at least according to The Weather Network’s seven-day forecast.

Friday is looking to start things off with a high of 2°C and a mix of sun and clouds, and Saturday will follow suit with the same recipe and a high of 3°C.

The possibility of precipitation will remain low for both days at 30%.

Sunday is the real black sheep of the week, with the forecast calling for scattered flurries, a high of just 0°C, and around 1 cm of snow. Expect just one hour of sunshine.

The snows won’t be completely gone by Monday, as less than 1 cm is expected to fall on another 0°C day, though four hours of expected sunshine will likely be appreciated by any families planning for some outdoor activities.

It’s definitely not the worst forecast we’ve ever seen — especially this far into the winter — so be sure to make the most of it this Family Day long weekend.
