There's going to be a supermoon shining over Calgary this weekend
Get your cameras ready Calgary, there’s going to be a spectacular supermoon rising over the city this weekend.
On the evening of December 3, the giant-looking moon is scheduled to rise above Calgary, making it this year’s only true supermoon.
A supermoon occurs when the closest point to Earth in the moon’s orbit coincides with a full moon. This makes the moon appear larger and brighter in the sky than usual.
This Sunday, set your alarm for 6:26 pm, as this is when the moon is set to illuminate the sky and give everyone who’s watching a free outdoor show.
For optimal viewing, find a park or another spot outside the city limits in order to have enough darkness and be prepared to be amazed at the giant orb as it rises in all its majesty.
