The Calgary Stampede is supposed to be the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, but between the crowds, the heat, the lines, and everything in between, some moments might make you want to cry a little bit.

If you find yourself needing a moment during the Calgary Stampede, here are some of the best places on the grounds to sneak away and have a good cry.

The Agriculture Zone

If the Stampede starts to feel like too much and you need a quick emotional reset, there’s nothing like standing among cows, horses, pigs, and sheep to let out a weep. A big plus to crying in the Agriculture Zone is that no one will question you shedding a tear while staring at an exceptionally cute animal.

If you need to escape the crowds for a quick cry, the Ferris wheel might just be the place. Whether you’re up there by yourself or with a friend, it’s the perfect spot to let it all out and by the time you get to the bottom, your face should be dry thanks to the wind.

The Nashville North line

Standing in a long line surrounded by a sea of cowboy hats and dust in the air is a surprisingly effective way to trigger the waterworks, and the Nashville North line has it all. Luckily, it’s also a solid place to let out a few tears, and you probably won’t be the only one crying either.

WestJet Skyride

A ride above the chaos of the midway is a great escape. The crowds shrink, it’s a little quieter, and you have plenty of time to reflect on your time at the Calgary Stampede so far, which can be a little emotional. With no distraction, just you and a view, it’s a great place to shed a few tears.

The Coca-Cola stage crowd

A massive crowd of people, music, and loud noise make it easy to get a bit lost in the moment. Between the sound, the heat, and the jostling of the crowd, it’s a convenient place to cry. Plus, no one will be able to tell if you’re crying because you’re sad or because Alessia Cara is tearing up the stage.

During the fireworks

This is the most versatile option on the list because you can see the fireworks from all over the grounds. With a sky full of colour, booming sound, and everyone looking up to the sky, it’s easy to get caught up in the moment. Whether it’s awe, exhaustion, or anything in between, the fireworks are the perfect time to let it all out.
