Calgary Stampede 2025: Best new Midway food we can't wait to try

Jun 30 2025, 9:58 pm

YAHOO! We’re less than a week away from the kick-off of the Calgary Stampede, and as usual, our minds are already drifting towards the food.

The Midway is set to be stacked with weird, wacky and delicious bites and sips to check out throughout the 10-day celebration.

With over 50 new treats to get your hands on at the Calgary Stampede this year, we’ve rounded up the ones we’re most intrigued to get our hands on this year.

Portuguese Tart Pineapple – Concessions Inc

A play on the classic Portuguese tarts or “Pasteis de nata,” this dessert features a cool pineapple blend in an actual pineapple, topped with buttery soft serve, cinnamon sugar and shortbread. Nothing beats Stampede soft serve, so this is one we’re excited to grab on a hot day.

Bacon Wrapped Grilled Cheese-Cake – Bacon Nation

Grilled cheese meets cheesecake. Bacon Nation is combining sweet and savoury with this genius combo. It features bacon lattice, wrapped around soft Texas toast, which has been stuffed with a New York-style blueberry cheesecake. Sign us up!

Pickle Burger Watermelon Caesar – Drink a Fruit

In what might be the ultimate Stampede hangover cure, we’re intrigued by the Pickle Burger Watermelon Caesar. The wood-fired burger is served on top of freshly blended watermelon juice, and is garnished with watermelon pickle relish, red onion, ranch, fresh dill,  a ranch Tajin-spiced rim and of course, a giant pickle for good measure.

Fruit Loops Chicken Burger – Steve-o’s Homestyle Fried Chicken

It could be delicious, it could be a monstrosity, but we need to try the Fruit Loops chicken burger. The burger is drizzled with strawberry, rolled in Fruit Loops cereal, all served up in a bun.

Ube Corndog – Corndog King

Nothing beats a Stampede corndog, and this year, we’re pumped to try out this ube iteration. The batter has been blended with ube (purple yam) for a subtle sweetness and its purple hue. Served on a stick, this is going to be a great snack to grab on the go.

Fiery Dill Coke – Covet Sips + Sweets

Dirty soda has been trending for a while, and this year, Covet Sips + Sweets will be on the grounds with the Fiery Dill Coke. It’ll feature Coca-Cola with spicy pickled jalapenos and a dill pickle spear. Colour us intrigued.

Skittle Dog – Burgers & Wurst

Ok, full disclaimer, we did technically try this one already, but it may warrant a repeat visit. The all-beef hot dog is already infused with freeze-dried Skittles, which adds a hint of sweetness. Served in a bun, the hot dog riff is then topped with a handful of Skittles.
