Between midway snacks, cold drinks, and hours spent wandering around the grounds, a bathroom break at the Calgary Stampede is pretty much inevitable.
While some washrooms come with long lines and unfavourable conditions, there are a few options that are surprisingly clean, quiet and worth seeking out.
We’ve gone ahead and split this list up into three tiers: the emergency outdoor tier, the solid tier, and the elite tier.
If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed at all and need a good spot to shed a few tears, we rounded up six of the best places to cry at the Calgary Stampede.
The emergency outdoor tier

Sometimes when you have to go, you have to go. This tier is perfect for anyone who really needs a washroom but wants to skip the porta-potties.

Whether you’re just getting to the Stampede, heading home, or happen to be in the area, you can find gender-neutral temporary restroom trailers with good space and accessibility right at the Erlton gate entrance and Weadickville. They may not be the fanciest toilets at Stampede, but when time is of the essence, they’ll do the job.
The solid tier
Moving on to the solid tier. These bathrooms aren’t the nicest on the grounds, but they are definitely a step up from the emergency tier and overall a good place to sneak away for a bathroom break.Â
The Big Four Building

Calgary Stampede
While the big four building can be a bit hectic at times, there is a hidden gem waiting for you on the second floor. If you take the elevator or stairs to the upper levels, you’ll find pretty large bathrooms with nice layouts. They also stay well stocked with toilet paper and stay quite clean.

GMC Stadium

Also known as the Grandstand, GMC Stadium has some pretty nice washrooms for anyone who needs to go. If you head towards the south tower or make your way up to the upper tier of the stadium, you’ll find bathrooms that are usually skipped by people on the lower levels. It’s a quieter alternative that stays clean and even has warm running water.
The elite tier
These Stampede washrooms are almost worth going out of the way for. Think air conditioning, quiet spots, and plenty of stalls. If you find yourself near one of these bathrooms, it might even be worth it to make the trip just in case.
The Sam Centre

If you’re looking for air conditioning, enclosed stalls, and a quiet spot, the Sam Centre has it all. Found at the Youth Campus on Stampede Park, right next to the Rundle Ruins, it’s the perfect spot to sneak away and use the washroom, and while you’re there, you can check out some of its amazing exhibits.
The BMO Centre

Last, but certainly not least, we have the BMO Centre. While there are plenty of washrooms to check out here, if you head deeper into the building hallways away from the main exhibition hall gates, you can find tons of open stalls, and since it’s serviced by janitorial staff, it’s usually clean.
A bonus spot is upstairs near the Stampede Cellar and Western Oasis area. People don’t tend to think about heading up there, plus it’s air-conditioned, and usually mostly empty.
