These 21 Calgary communities will have photo radar in October
In an effort to reduce road collisions in Calgary, photo radar will be set up in 21 communities around the city this October.
For the month of October, mobile photo radar will be in place at construction zones where workers are present. Photo radar will be set up in the following areas:
- Abbeydale
- Albert Park/Radisson Heights
- Braeside
- Cedarbrae
- Cityscape
- Evergreen
- Glendale
- Glengarry
- Hidden Valley
- Huntington Hills
- Kilarney
- Montgomery
- New Brighton
- North Haven
- Panorama Hills
- Renfrew
- Rosscarrock
- Saddle Ridge
- South Calgary
- Westgate
- West Hillhurst
In addition to photo radar, as of Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, there will be 57 Intersection Safety Camera (ISC) locations throughout Calgary. These cameras can photograph vehicles that run through red lights, and five of them will capture vehicles that speed through green lights.Ā
On Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, Intersection Safety Devices (ISDs) for both red light and speed-on-green enforcement will be reactivated at the following locations:
- Eastbound and westbound 16th Avenue at 68th Street NE
- East and westbound Highway 1A at 12th Mile Coulee Road NW
Those who driveĀ 50 km/h over the speed limit will have to appear in court before a judge.
Community needs were identified through statistical analysis, collisions, and citizen concerns, and photo radar will continue to cultivateĀ a safer driving environment around the city.
If a motorist is ticketed, the Offence Notice/Violation Ticket will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle. Tickets can be paid at the Provincial Court or online, following the directions on the violation ticket portion of the document. The ticket must be dealt with on or before the appearance date on the violation ticket.
