Calgary ranked 9th most expensive city in Canada for a date night
Well, that isn’t so bad.
Calgary has just been ranked the ninth most expensive place in Canada for a date, according to a study by EliteSingles.
EliteSingles defined a date night as one including dinner for two, a bottle of wine, two movie tickets, and an 8-km taxi ride.
And the dating site then looked at the average costs of these items in 15 major Canadian cities and in 30 capital cities around the world.
On average in 2019, date night in Canada cost $127. But in Toronto, which landed highest on the list, that romantic night will cost an average of $150. In Vancouver, the same date is $149.

“That means a date in Toronto costs $23 more than an average date in Canada, while Vancouver is $22 more expensive.”

On the other hand, Quebec City is the cheapest place for a date night, where the average cost there is $112, that’s $38 less than Toronto.
As for Calgary, lovers in YYC will need to shell out $4 less than the average to go for a night out on the town, facing an average cost of $123 for the night — $7 less than the same night would have cost in 2018.
Our neighbours to the north will be charged an average of $131 to go for a date night in YEG — so maybe keep it local the next time you’re taking out that special someone!
