Calgary Flames will wear a special Saddledome patch on their jersey next season

The Calgary Flames have made a slight alteration to their home jerseys ahead of what will be their final season at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Saddledome has served as the home of the Flames since the 1983-84 season. The building has had some incredible moments, but has become quite outdated compared to other NHL arenas.

As a result, Scotia Place is currently under construction and is expected to be ready to rock to kick off the 2027-28 season. That gives everyone one last season to enjoy the Saddledome, including the Flames themselves, who are honouring the iconic building with a new shoulder patch on their home sweaters.

The patch includes all the years the Flames have played out of the Saddledome, while also having “Dome Farewell Season” stitched into it. That said, reactions from the fan base seem a little mixed on it.

“Oh, man! It looks just as good as I hoped,” one user chimed in on X.

Unfortunately, not all Flames fans had the same reaction.

“The patch is so underwhelming,” another fan wrote. “Any AI generator could have done something better.”

Regardless of reactions, this coming season will be an emotional one for many Flames fans who have spent countless hours at the Saddledome over the last four-plus decades.

The Flames will kick off their final season at the Saddledome in their season opener on Thursday, Oct. 1 versus the Seattle Kraken. Meanwhile, their last regular season game ever in the legendary building will come on Saturday, April 10 against the Vancouver Canucks.

While the Flames may struggle in what is another rebuilding season, there will still be plenty of fans making their way down to the Saddledome to catch some action before it no longer exists. The building is expected to be torn down within two years following the opening of Scotia Place.
