Calgary Flames reveal new Saddledome 'farewell ice' design
For one last time, the ice is in at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
And it’s sporting a new look.
The Calgary Flames have unveiled a new centre ice design, in honour of their final season at the Saddledome. “The ‘Dome farewell season” is now splashed prominently at centre ice, with the opening (1983) and closing (2027) years noted.

In a video posted to social media by the Flames, they revealed that names of season ticket members have been subtly embedded into the design.
“Embedded within are the names of our Season Ticket Members, holding the legacy and memories shared over 44 years,” the Flames said.
Fans on Instagram seemed to approve of the new design, though the closing of the Saddledome comes with mixed emotions.
“This is so bittersweet,” said Flames fan Joel Elvers. “I know they need a new arena, but I am really going to miss the ‘Dome.”

The Flames open the regular season at home to the Seattle Kraken on Oct. 1. They’ll play 42 home games this season, as the NHL expands to an 84-game regular season.
Circle April 10 on your calendar. That’s the date of the final Flames game ever at the Saddledome, against the Vancouver Canucks.
The Flames will move to Scotia Place, which is starting to take shape, for the start of the 2027-28 season.
