As if Calgary Flames fans needed more bad news.

The NHL’s last-place team is coming off a 4-0 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, which prompted Mackenzie Weegar to voice displeasure with his team’s performance.

Now, they’ll be missing their top prospect for an extended period of time.

The Flames announced during practice on Saturday that Parekh will be out week-to-week after taking a hit from Blackhawks captain Nick Foglino.

Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 also reported that Parekh has officially been placed on injured reserve.

Parekh was seen clutching his shoulder on the play, and he was still grabbing it at the Flames bench before exiting the game.

Calgary had announced earlier in the day that defenceman Danill Miromanov had been recalled. He played 44 games for the Flames last season. Miromanov originally made the Flames’ 23-man roster but was waived back on Oct. 20.

The Flames also provided injury updates on two other hurt players after practice on Tuesday.

There was good news on defenceman Kevin Bahl, who missed Friday’s game against the Blackhawks. He will be an option for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Wild, according to Ryan Pike of Flames Nation.

That report also says that Martin Pospisil will still “be out for a while.” After playing 81 games last year, he’s yet to suit up for the Flames in 2025-26.
