It isn’t hard to see why Ryan Lomberg has become a favourite amongst Calgary Flames fans in such a short time.
The 30-year-old rejoined the Flames organization ahead of the 2024-25 season on a two-year contract, but wasn’t very well-known in Calgary given that he’d logged just 11 NHL games before moving on to the Florida Panthers. After just one season spent with the Flames, however, he is absolutely loved by the fanbase.
Lomberg is relentless on the ice and has a fun and charismatic personality off of it. That alone has drawn many in, but it’s his role in the community that has really stood out to many.
His great community work is continuing even in the offseason, as the Flames announced on Thursday afternoon that he has created a new sports camp for children of southern Alberta first responders, which will be called “Camp Lombo.”

The camp is set for children aged 6 to 13 and will feature several activities, including floor hockey, flag football, and an on-ice session with Lomberg himself, amongst plenty more.
“Get ready for three exciting mornings of skill-building and unforgettable memories! Camp Lombo offers children of Calgaryās First Responders, aged 6 to 13, the chance to join Calgary Flames forward Ryan Lomberg for a unique, high-energy experience,” an excerpt from the website reads.
This fun and unique opportunity will be available from Aug. 12 through Aug. 14, with each day running from 9 a.m. to noon. It will take place at the Brookfield Residential YMCA in Seton. Those interested in signing their children up for the camp can do so online.
Lomberg, who won a Stanley Cup with the Panthers in 2024, scored three goals and 13 points in 80 games with the Flames this past season while recording 57 penalty minutes.
