The Calgary Flames are going to need to be ready to put on some massive miles for the 2025-26 season.
While not the worst of the 32 teams in the NHL, the Flames have a less-than-ideal schedule this coming season when it comes to travel. In fact, it’s the third worst amongst Canadian teams and the 10th worst amongst all NHL teams.
The Flames are set to put on a whopping 44,063 miles this coming season. The only two Canadian teams set to travel more are the Edmonton Oilers (54,426) and the Vancouver Canucks (48,378). The least travelled amongst Canadian teams will be the Toronto Maple Leafs, who will have the second fewest miles in the NHL next season at 32,134.

Just how ugly the Flames’ travel schedule is can be proven by taking a glance at the New York Islanders, who will only have to travel 28,477 miles next season, nearly 16,000 miles less than the Flames.
The Flames’ schedule for the 2025-26 season was released in mid July, and will see them go through a very tough opening nine games, a span in which they will face both the Vegas Golden Knights and Winnipeg Jets twice, along with the Edmonton Oilers on one occasion in what will be their season opener on Oct. 8.
The one positive for some when it comes to the Flames schedule is that they will only have two games on Amazon Prime’s Monday Night Hockey, the least of all Canadian teams. This means that fans can watch the other 80 games on Sportsnet.
The Flames will play their first two games of the 2025-26 season on the road before their home opener on Oct. 11 versus the St. Louis Blues.
