Calgary Flames fans are finally getting a glimpse of what awaits inside Scotia Place.
While construction on the Flames’ new home has been ongoing since July 2024, much of the attention to this point has been focused on the exterior of the building.
Now, with the outside of the arena nearing completion, work on the interior is beginning to take shape. Fans got another exciting look at what’s to come in the latest episode of The Chase, which featured Flames players touring their soon-to-be new home.

While the players appeared impressed with what they saw throughout the building, their new team facilities seemed to generate some of the biggest reactions.
The Saddledome’s age has long presented challenges for the Flames, particularly when it comes to the team’s undersized dressing room and limited gym space. Those frustrations should soon be a thing of the past.

“It looks good. Looks great. Can’t wait,” captain Mikael Backlund said. “I don’t have to fight with [Jonathan Huberdeau] every day about gym [space].”
And it’s not just the additional room that has the players looking forward to the move. Tom Bond, an event centre consultant, offered some insight into the thought and design that has gone into the new dressing room.
“A lot of air circulation within the lockers. Really good, really attractive, very high design, leather benches that have a lot of stitching. Basically, it’s going to be beautiful. They’re wood-grained; they look beautiful, they’re leather.”

Scotia Place is also set to host the 2028 World Cup of Hockey, with the building scheduled to open in time for the 2027-28 NHL season.

Leaving the Saddledome behind will undoubtedly be a bittersweet moment for Flames fans, given the memories made inside the iconic building. However, judging by the early glimpses of Scotia Place, the players will have plenty to look forward to.
Ryan Strome perhaps summed it up best.
“We’re lucky,” he said.
