As you would expect, Calgary Flames goaltender Devin Cooley appears to be staying positive despite suffering an injury Wednesday night.
Making his fifth straight start, Cooley lasted just one period against the Edmonton Oilers before being taken out of the game in favour of Dustin Wolf. The 29-year-old is believed to have suffered an injury after a nasty collision with Oilers forward Colton Dach.

Head coach Ryan Huska didn’t have much of an update on his goaltender postgame. Cooley, however, gave fans somewhat of an update himself on Instagram. While he didn’t mention any specific injury or a timeline, he did make sure to tell fans that he’s a “fast healer”, suggesting he may miss at least a few games.
“Can’t wait to be back and what a great opportunity to reset physically, mentally, and find ways to gain an edge in my game off the ice so I can come back even better than before,” Cooley wrote.
“Sometimes what we don’t ever want to happen could end up being exactly what we needed!”

This injury comes at an awful time for Cooley, who had been playing some of the best hockey of his NHL career. He entered Wednesday’s game having won each of his past four starts, a span that saw him put up a 1.50 GAA along with a .954 SV%.
As for his replacement, Wolf wound up allowing three goals on 23 shots the rest of the way in what wound up being a 4-0 loss.
Wolf will presumably be the Flames’ starter on Friday night against the Seattle Kraken. The 25-year-old has struggled out of the gates this season, posting a 4.81 GAA along with a .839 SV% through six appearances.
Should Cooley indeed miss time, fans should expect to see Arseni Sergeev recalled from the Wranglers.
