Calgary Flames defenceman Andersson shares adorable pre-game moment with daughter

Calgary Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson was keeping things light ahead of Thursday’s game versus the Minnesota Wild.

The 29-year-old blueliner and his teammates were back at the Saddledome for the first time in nearly two weeks last night after a lengthy five-game road trip. That not only allowed them to play in front of their home crowd, but also their families.

During warmup, cameras caught Andersson sharing an adorable moment with his daughter, Lucy. In the video, the Flames defenceman can be seen making funny faces at his daughter, while she is smiling ear to ear, banging on the glass.

Perhaps keeping things light paid off for Andersson and the Flames, who were able to get back in the win column thanks to a 4-1 victory. It was yet another strong game for Andersson, who picked up an assist on a Jonathan Huberdeau goal in the second period, while also putting home an empty-netter late in the third.

With the multi-point outing, Andersson continued his red-hot play as of late, having now racked up three goals and 14 points through his last nine games.

“Best I’ve seen him in a long time,” head coach Ryan Huska said of Andersson on Thursday night. “I thought Ras was really good when he was younger. The plays he was making when he first came up to try and establish himself as an NHL defenceman, he showed something different from the other guys we had.

“He’s been asked to play all sorts of roles with us over the years, but this, when you look at the entire package, is probably the best I’ve seen him play.”

Andersson’s play has massively helped the Flames, as they own a 5-2-1 record over their last eight games. The hot stretch for the Swedish blueliner is also probably increasing his trade value, as he’s expected to be dealt at some point ahead of the deadline.
